Default More on OJ Knighten, Dog Trainer

This guy seems to be a hit so I dug up his website.

I haven't had a chance to sniff around, especially the videos, but I liked what I saw.

This is something that I'm not familiar with in the UK - if you look at the dogs for sale section

'One male and two female blue Malinois puppies available. These puppies have very nice prey and ball drive. These pups will be suitable for sport and dual purpose. They are expected to have solid nerves and full mouth bites. Puppies have a KNPV pedigree.'

What the heck is a 'full mouth bite' - are these dogs recommended as guard/protection dogs?

and then something I find rather distasteful is the video which shows the puppies father's attack on handler
Video of Breston's attack on handler for PSA1.
Breston - Attack on Handler Scenario

and also the carjacking video. It worries me that these dogs will fall into the wrong hands and become dogs for street criminals. I hope I'm wrong.

What do others think please have a look at the videos -

Check under "links," the one on the right is for the "Protection Sports Association."
It looks to me like this is on behalf of someone he knows as opposed to him being in the business of selling dogs.

They are perfectly trained protection k9's. I can't say I find nothing scary in those videos. Full mouth bites is prolly that they already take a big chunk of whatever they bite into so to say which is a good thing.. it HURTS when a dog crushs your arm between its jaws EVEN if they dont break the skin.. oh lord the swelling.. OUCH.. (yes I have played tug with my own arms) *lol*

Here is one of my favorite videos with protective k9's look how they take the car.. OHHH Im getting goosebumps...

I am reading a book on War dogs ,who saved hundreds of life's by taking on the enemy.
When I see the videos It makes you realise why they were so effective. but I would not want to see what could happen if one got lose , the training is amazing the dogs love every second of it. but it IS eye opening to see how far a dog will go when trained to atack

My nephew, a detective in narcotics enforcement, tells me that the full mouth bite is used as a tactical restraint on the person they are "detaining" in that it is extremely difficult to shake loose and that it varies in amount of pressure applied by the dog's mouth. Makes me glad they practice it with those protective sleeves!

I agree re the War Dogs (in the UK we call them Military Dogs) and they should be brave and fearless, just the same as police dogs. But what worries me is that who can actually buy those dogs advertised on the site? If they can only go to reputable organisations/people fine - but could someone walk in off the street and buy one of those puppies?

I know what OJ exhudes - testosterone -

I have trained with O.J. for three years. I highly recommend him. I believe that the form of training that we engage in produces some of the most balanced dogs on the planet. I am biased, but that's because I am tickled pink with my dogs.

Kane, my three year old Presa Canario, is social to the extreme and will absolutely protect me and my family appropriately. He has an AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title, is training to get his TDI (Therapy Dog International) certification, ATTS (American Temperament Test Society) title, and PSA (Protection Sport Association) PDC obedience certificate. He is rattlesnake avoidance trained and has used this once to physically stop me from stepping on a rattler and another time to alert me to one next to my garage. He has also just worked on his first television show "Bones" to be aired this coming season featuring my trainer's friend, Cesar Millan. As of today, I have discovered that Kane has a facility for scent tracking. I will pursue titling him in narcotics detection as I work in a field that can put him to work in the private sector.

My one year old Pit Bull, Lilly, is still in novice training and looks to surpass Kane in accomplishments due to handler improvement. I feed my dogs total raw diets and I use weightpull for conditioning.

The dogs for sale on O.J.'s website are bred for protection sport and companion protector prospects. O.J. and his assistants invest a lot of time and work into each litter and are very discriminating when selecting buyers. Puppies must be trained in protection in order to be used in that capacity. Finished adults are only sold to people who can prove that they can handle the dog or they will train with O.J. to fulfill this requirement.

Anyone with ill intent can train a dog to be used as an weapon if they put the time and work into it. I would hate to have my right to purchase a breed of my choice and train in my chosen venue because people like that exist. I personally impose on myself the extra burden of training for balanced dogs in order to portray good ambassadors for "targeted" breeds and to myself be an ambassador for my misunderstood sport and training field.

I appreciate the opportunity to present an insider's perspective on protection training.

Regards,
Randy

After watching Oj K9 dogs compete, I knew he was the one to help me find my next dog. The K9 Coach is a great resource to selecting a dog.
